Description
This presentation asks critical questions about copublishing in archaeology and cognate disciplines to test the publish or perish philosophy when Indigenous people are involved as knowledge holders and collaborators. Who benefits the most from copublishing? Who is co-publishing for? What criteria should be used to evaluate that co-publishing is a genuine reflection of the with, by, and for, philosophy of Indigenous research methodology? In this presentation I argue that despite significant progress in aspects of archaeology in Australia, co-publishing has escaped a critical analysis of benefits and the potential of transformative impact on decolonisation in theory, methods and practice in Australian archaeology.
