Description
Renata Cetinich will speak about her research and the journey it has taken her on through the political landscape of Indigenous wellbeing. A newly implemented Australian Government funding scheme called The Indigenous Advancement Strategy is a point of interest. There are many local and national Indigenous organisations that have projects in place to enhance Indigenous wellbeing using this funding. In recent weeks it has been revealed that many of these organisations have failed to secure ongoing funding under the new scheme. The nature of how this funding is applied for, obtained and disseminated, is problematic in terms of values such as equality and liberty. Exploring the problematic elements in depth via political philosophy, Renata will take the discussion into an interesting space which presents a theoretical and ethical conundrum for all; Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike.
