Abstract
In this article we will concentrate on the nature and legal status of the various documents and their corresponding authority. This particularly concerns the relationship between the 'Roman Missal' and its 'General Institution' and the corresponding significance of the sequence of documents called 'Instructions' prepared and published by the Roman Dicasteries, especially the Congregation for Worship, with its several titles over four decades, with special reference to the newest 'Instruction of 2004'.
Pastoral Liturgy is published by the University of Notre Dame Australia, School of Philosophy and Theology, Fremantle.
