About the Oration of the Chair of Indigenous Studies

The Nulungu Research Institute has undergone substantive restructure in recent years to promote and respect cultural agency and authority. The establishment of a leadership team consisting of our co-Chairs of Indigenous Studies – Professor Anne Poelina and Associate Professor Steve Kinnane – provides cultural guidance and oversight alongside the Director, Associate Professor Melissa Marshall and Assistant Director, Dr Kathryn Thorburn. Together, the management and operations of the institute within the broader University are underpinned by our vision ‘To conduct exceptional and collaborative research which is transformative, decolonising and of value to Aboriginal people.’
