Description
In September 2022, 26 judges of the District, Supreme and Federal Courts headed to the Kimberley to take part in a Cultural Immersion Program. The trip was hosted by the University of Notre Dame in Broome. It was designed to give the judges a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and language so that they can be more aware of the challenges that may be faced by Aboriginal people when they attend court. Gillian Kennedy, Anna Dwyer, Anne Poelina and Vennessa Poelina were key organisers of the Kimberley Cultural Immersion Program for the Federal, Supreme and District Court Judges of WA. The project was held on Country and at The University of Notre Dame Broome.
