Abstract

The Western Australian Minister for Education and Training, the Hon Mark McGowan, recently visited The University of Notre Dame Australia’s, Fremantle Campus.

The purpose of the visit was for Mr McGowan to meet with the Vice Chancellor, Dr Peter Tannock, and other senior staff to talk about the programs offered by the University, future plans and teacher education courses.

“We raised with the minister the possibility of the State Government providing us some low interest loan facilities to help with the expansion of our teacher education program. We talked about what we might do and how we might do it.

“It was a good and constructive visit and I think the Minister is very interested in what he saw of the Campus,” said Dr Tannock.

After a briefing session on the University, Dr Tannock and Mr McGowan toured the schools and facilities.

Mr McGowan said he thought Notre Dame was extremely beautiful, interesting and a great contribution to the Fremantle landscape.

“The visit was very worth while and I was particularly impressed with the facilities on offer at the School of Medicine,” said Mr McGowan.
