Abstract

Ms Rashmi Watson, Professional Development Coordinator (teaching & Learning) at The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Fremantle Campus has been elected president of the WA branch of the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA).

HERDSA is a scholarly society for people committed to the advancement of higher and tertiary education. The organisations supports members through their journal, guides and news updates.

Each year an international conference is held on topical teaching and learning issues.

The WA Branch runs seminars throughout the year at each of WA’s five universities. The sessions are attended by academic staff at all stages of their careers.

Ms Watson said that she was delighted to take on the role as President.

“I have been a committee member for the past two years and have found the collaboration and sharing of knowledge invaluable. Teaching is all about ongoing reflection, engagement with research and others in the field to improve relationships and learning.

“I look forward to my role as president, working with current members and the opportunity to welcome new members.
