Abstract

The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Fremantle Campus held its annual “A day in the life of a University student” last week where around 180 high school students from years 10 through to 12 were able to experience life on campus.

The students attending were from a range of High Schools including Santa Maria College, Methodist Ladies College, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar and Melville Senior High School.

Throughout the day they were able to attend their choice of lectures from a variety of disciplines such as Education, IT, Law, Physiotherapy and Marketing & PR just to name a few. Students also had the opportunity to meet academic staff over morning tea and speak with student ambassadors about being a university student.

Manager of Prospective Students & Marketing, Liz Beal said, “We have been running this free event for a number of years now as it is very popular among high school students. The transition from school to university can be extremely daunting and this day gives them a real sense of what university life is like.

The students also had the opportunity to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and mingle with some of our current students as they finished the day with a BBQ hosted by our Student Services office ”.
