Abstract
A group of enthusiastic students including many from The University of Notre Dame Australia, Sydney recently organised iWitness – the largest Catholic youth gathering in Sydney since World Youth Day.
The event, held over four days in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, had a number of guest speakers talk to over 250 young people about different aspects of the Catholic Faith.
Speakers included; Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell; Coordinator of WYD 2002, Fr Thomas Rosica and Auxiliary Bishop of Sydney, Bishop Julian Porteous.
Notre Dame’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Sydney, Professor Hayden Ramsay, spoke on the topic of ‘How to live a faithful Catholic life’. Theology lecturer, Sr Moira Debono, presented on ‘The True Femininity’.
Notre Dame, Sydney Student President and iWitness Coordinator, Patrick Langrell, said the conference was a wonderful experience for all those who attended.
“Not only were we able to secure some of the best speakers around Australia and overseas and to celebrate beautiful liturgies, we were all able to have a really great time and enjoy ourselves.
“iWitness was a great way to meet up with other young people and re-live the World Youth Day experience,” said Mr Langrell.
