Abstract

The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Sydney Trustee, Mr T K Tobin QC, as the new Deputy Chancellor.

Mr Tobin was appointed a trustee of Notre Dame at the beginning of 2005 and was part of the foundation of the Sydney Campus.

He is a Queen’s Counsel in New South Wales, and in recent years has also practised extensively in Western Australia. He has been a great supporter of the University.

Mr Tobin thanked the Trustees on his appointment.

“My first task will be to support the Chancellor. My appointment comes at an important time in the development of the University. It is a time of change after the great builders – the Vice Chancellor, Dr Peter Tannock and the former Chancellor, Justice Neville Owen – and I hope I can help the University maintain the momentum which they have built,” said Mr Tobin.

Vice Chancellor-elect, Professor Celia Hammond commented, “The University is very pleased and fortunate to have a man of Mr Tobin’s intelligence, drive and commitment to Catholic education taking on such an important role within Notre Dame.”
