Abstract

An excited gathering of over 100 school leavers and their families were welcomed to the University’s Fremantle Campus at the end of October. The students were attending a special presentation to formally acknowledge their successful application for the University’s Early Offer Program (EOP).

Vice Chancellor, Professor Celia Hammond acknowledged the high calibre of the recipients and their great contribution to their School community.

“It is important for you to know that it is not what you have achieved so far but your potential that we are hoping to encourage and develop,” she said.

The EOP was introduced by the Fremantle Admissions Office in 2006. It is now in its 4th year on the Fremantle Campus and 2nd year on the Sydney Campus. It gives principals of secondary schools the opportunity to nominate academically strong students who have made an outstanding contribution to school and community life.

The Fremantle Admissions Office received a record number over 200 nominations this year, with applications from 62 schools around WA.

Mrs Rommie Masarei, Manager of the Admissions Office, Fremantle, said she was very impressed with the achievements of the students nominated.

“This is a great opportunity for outstanding students to be acknowledged for their contribution to school and community life and their strong academic results. We are delighted to see the number of applications increase and the involvement of these Year 12s in their school and community life is inspiring. We look forward to welcoming them to the Notre Dame community in 2010.”

The offers received by the successful nominees are conditional on them completing Year 12 and meeting the academic requirements for each course.
