Abstract

Year 12 students from St Mary's Anglican Girls' School, Alexandra Ioppolo, Cassandra Pynes, Bethan Callaghan and Erin Clarke were formally acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to their school, and the community, when they were awarded an Early Offer for 2011 from The University of Notre Dame Australia today.

Provost, Professor Mark McKenna and St Mary's Principal, Mrs Lynne Thomson gathered with staff from the University and St Mary's to congratulate the students at a special morning tea held in the University's Carolyn Tannock Courtyard.

The University's Early Offer Program (EOP) was introduced by the University to give secondary schools the opportunity to nominate their students. Nominations are received from private and government secondary schools throughout Western Australia.

"This is a great opportunity for outstanding students to be acknowledged for their contribution to school and community life, and their strong academic results," said Mrs Rommie Masarei, Manager of UNDA's Admissions Office.

"These St Mary's girls are wonderful examples of the calibre of students in this program. We were delighted with the success of the program, and to see the number of applications for this successful initiative increase in 2010," Mrs Masarei said.
