Abstract

Newly appointed Federal minister responsible for Higher Education, Senator Chris Evans, met with State Minister for Education, Dr Elizabeth Constable and Western Australian Vice Chancellors for the first time at The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Fremantle Campus.

Vice Chancellors had gathered for the September meeting of the Western Australian Higher Education Council. This Council is chaired by the Minister of Education and seeks to ensure that Western Australia's higher education system maintains the high standard that is recognised nationally and internationally.

Notre Dame Vice Chancellor, Professor Celia Hammond said that it was an ideal opportunity for the Vice Chancellors to welcome the new Minister whose portfolio also sees him responsible for Jobs, Skills and Workplace Relations.

“I look forward to working with both Ministers over coming years,” said Professor Hammond
