Abstract
This article presents readers with three considerations as a means of enhancing effective leadership in school. First, it argues the need to broaden the perception of school leadership beyond the hierarchical, managerial model to one that encompasses all members of a school staff, especially teachers. Second, it posits the place of servant leadership as a critical overarching model of leadership within schools; one that informs the way leaders might act. Third, it underscores the value of service learning as a practical way of developing leadership potential through service and consideration of others. In particular, the article highlights the positive impact that involvement in a Christian service-learning program can have on the leadership development of pre-service teachers.
