Abstract

Iconic Fremantle fashion retailer Morrison invited members of The University of Notre Dame Australia community to a Fashion Bites event at their High Street premises recently.

The focus of the event was to enhance business networks in the Fremantle community and to showcase fashion options available to women in the Morrison store.

Morrison designer, Kylie Radford, provided industry insights to guests who were eager to learn of the inspiration behind the company’s new clothing line, L’espoir.

Derived from the French equivalent of the English word ‘hope’, and with plenty of colours, fabrics and silhouettes featuring in this season’s fashion for women, Ms Radford says the inspiration for the L’espoir range comes from Morrison’s clients and staff members.

“We felt that there has been so much doom and gloom in the world over the past couple of years that we designed a collection to offer more ‘hope’ through our use of colours and silhouettes,” Ms Radford said.

“We focussed on those items of clothing that women can wear not solely in social surroundings, but also at the office.

“I really believe women are looking for quality in their winter fashion, plus something that will see them through a few seasons and not just one.”

Notre Dame staff member, Fiona Whittles, kindly agreed to model some of Morrison’s new winter creations during the event. She says the event highlights Fremantle’s rapidly evolving fashion landscape.

“I found it to be a lovely opportunity to meet and chat with our work colleagues in a friendly, social atmosphere,” Ms Whittles said.

“As a long term customer of Morrison, it was exciting to see the splashes of colour and images in the screen prints on the new silk clothing readily available for winter.”

Morrison has been part of the Fremantle community for 11 years. The company now has eight stores located around Australia, including franchises in the cities of Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
