The Hon Julia Gillard, Minister of Education on behalf of the Australian Government has advised Dr Marc Fellman that he is the recipient of a 2010 Endeavour Executive Award.
Dr Marc Fellman is the Manager of the Research Office at The University of Notre Dame Australia’s Fremantle Campus.
The Endeavour Awards are a part of the Australia Awards initiative which was announced by the Prime Minister in November 2009.
“The Australia Awards have been established to maximise the benefit to Australia of its extensive scholarship programs, and to support enduring ties between Australia and our neighbours,” explained Ms Gillard in a letter to Dr Fellman.
Ms Gillard wrote to Dr Fellman to advise him of his success and to offer her congratulations on joining the select group of individuals who have received a prestigious Endeavour Award.
“I trust that the experience you gain through your participation will be both challenging and rewarding, and wish you well in this undertaking,” she wrote.
Dr Fellman said that he was honoured to receive this national recognition and planned to use the opportunity presented by the award to exchange best practice in research development and researcher support with Japanese colleagues whilst hosted by Sophia University in Tokyo. It is intended that the knowledge gained will be shared with the international community of research managers.
The Endeavour Awards is the Australian Government's internationally competitive, merit-based scholarship program providing opportunities for citizens of the Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Europe and Americas to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. Awards are also available for Australians to undertake study, research and professional development abroad.
