Abstract

One of the phenomena emerging from the 'Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy' as the first fruits of the Second Vatican Council on December 4th 1963 has been the marking of the milestones or significant jubilees of its journey with the Church. Thus, we have seen papal and curial documents marking the tenth, fifteenth, twenty-fifth, thirtieth, and fortieth anniversaries. Each document highlighted the key elements of the teaching of Vatican II, expressed positively the awareness of many of the pastoral fruits of the renewal of the liturgy but, increasingly, expressed concern about alleged abuses without ever being very specific.

Pastoral Liturgy is published by the University of Notre Dame Australia, School of Philosophy and Theology, Fremantle.
