Abstract

Young people from across Sydney have gathered at The University of Notre Dame Australia for the first night of "The Ultimate Project," an outdoor cinema experience followed by a discussion group hosted by the Sydney Chaplaincy team.

The event is run in conjunction with Sydney Catholic Chaplaincies and Notre Dame students' association, "Saints on Screen" and based around the videos of the Catholicism Series by Word on Fire Catholic Ministries. Held in the Notre Dame Courtyard, The Ultimate Project will take place every Tuesday night between 14 August and 11 September, with drinks and nibbles served from 6.00pm for a 6.30pm start.

The Ultimate Project is a ten-part series that follows Catholic priest Fr Robert Barron on a journey across the globe to uncover the living word of the Catholic Church. Fr Barron travels from the Middle East, lands of the Bible, to Europe, America, Asia, Latin America, Africa and beyond to showcase the power of Catholicism across cultures and continents.

The first episode, "Amazed and Afraid – The Revelation of God Become Man," was aired in Notre Dame's Courtyard and over 90 young people gathered to view Fr Barron's pilgrimage from ancient Caesarea Phillipi to the shores of the Sea of Galilee, to the holy city of Jerusalem and the eternal city of Rome. His journey explained the Catholic faith's conviction that Jesus of Nazareth is the promised Messiah and the revelation of God becoming man.

At the next Ultimate Project event, Fr Barron travels from France to the cities of Kracow and Warsaw in Poland to the centre of New York City in "Happy are We – The Teachings of Jesus." This episode bears witness to the living culture of the Catholic Church through its people and its art. The Sydney Chaplaincy team invites all young people interested in connecting with other youth and discussing the culture of the Catholic Church to join them in Notre Dame's Broadway Courtyard, 104 Broadway, Broadway, for the next edition of The Ultimate Project.
