Abstract

People with neurological disorders seek effective treatments for the management of their movement disorder, the reduction in pain and discomfort and for increasing their participation in everyday life. We set out to investigate the role of Botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) in achieving these goals. We were guided by Albert Szent-Györgyi’s premise that ‘Discovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought’. The Cerebral Palsy Institute identified the need to develop an International Consensus Statements for BoNT-A in the treatment of neurological conditions based on a literature review and audit of practice variations in Australia.
